Uniting to Ignite Japan’s Energy Transition
Uniting to Ignite Japan’s Energy Transition
FibreMax, Akita Prefecture, and the City of Akita Unite to Ignite Local Production for Japan’s Energy Transition
Akita, Japan — 15 October 2025 — in a disruptive step toward reshaping Japan’s synthetic solutions production, FibreMax has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Governor of Akita Prefecture and the Mayor of Akita City to drive the next generation of localized production and high-performance manufacturing in Japan.
This isn’t business as usual. This agreement marks the start of a strategic industrial shift — one that will fuse regional strength, FibreMax’s advanced automation, and engineering intelligence to create a powerful local ecosystem. The parties will jointly drive initiatives in location assessment, workforce development, and infrastructure expansion, anchoring FibreMax’s innovation deep within Akita’s industrial core.
“This MoU isn’t about polite collaboration — it’s about rewriting the rules,” said Sander van Helvoort, Director Renewable Energy at FibreMax. “Localization for FibreMax has never been a buzzword; it’s a core strategy with a clear competitive advantage. When realized, this will position FibreMax and Akita not just as a hub for the Japanese Floating Wind Industry’s data driven and fit-for-purpose Mooring solutions — but as a launchpad for advanced sectors, from renewable energy to our world-renowned synthetic crane pendants.”
The partnership aligns perfectly with Akita’s ambition to build industrial independence, reduce reliance on global supply chains, and create future-proof, jobs in cutting-edge industries such as renewable energy, composites manufacturing, and advanced materials.
“Akita’s Governor Mr. Suzuki said ‘This partnership with FibreMax marks Akita’s evolution from a regional manufacturing base to a driving force in Japan’s energy transition. FibreMax’s precision engineering, manufacturing and ability to localize advanced production give our region a perfect opportunity to anchor FibreMax’s global unique technology right here in Akita”
The next stage will focus on technical feasibility, supplier integration, and workforce assessment, establishing a blueprint for how global technology and local capability can combine to power Japan’s clean energy transition.
