Fibremax signs collabration agreement with Pelastar

FibreMax and PelaStar have formalized their long-standing partnership with a Collaboration Agreement, marking our joint commitment to bring to market the PelaStar tension-leg platform (TLP) equipped with the industry's most advanced synthetic tendons.

For the past decade, FibreMax and PelaStar have collaborated to develop tendon cables for the PelaStar TLP. With the majority of initial R&D behind us, we are now focusing on the industrialization and local content readiness of our product, in anticipation of the burgeoning floating wind market.

Based in the Netherlands, FibreMax has been crafting the world's strongest synthetic cables and supplying them to the offshore renewables industry since 2009. Our unique, patented production process uses endless winding technology with incorporated end terminations, creating cables with unmatched stiffness, highest breaking load, minimal stretch, and lowest possible diameter. These cables will bolster the PelaStar platform, allowing it to maximize power production even in the most demanding deep-water environments.

FibreMax’s Director of Renewable Energy, Sander van Helvoort, said, "Both PelaStar and FibreMax are true pioneers in floating offshore wind. We have been collaboratively working on optimizations and potential projects since 2011. With the accelerating global floating wind opportunities, the formalization of our partnership is our commitment to the project developers and local stakeholders that we can scale-up and deliver commercial-size projects anywhere in the world.”

PelaStar is a Glosten company based in Seattle, WA, specializing in the design, commercialization, and deployment of the PelaStar TLP. The PelaStar’s robust five-arm, central column design provides wind farm developers a reliable, accessible, and stable platform for +15MW wind turbines in deep water.
